With Sochi in the rearview mirror, Staci’s sights have turned toward Pyeong Chang. Her annual travel and equipment budget is approximately $65,000. Although they are part of the U.S. team, Paralympic athletes face considerable costs, including special equipment, airfare, lodging, and food as well as travel for training and competing prior to the Games. In Staci’s case those costs increase incrementally because she must train and compete with a guide, whose expenses she is also responsible for.
Staci understands that the last few years have been economically stressful for both individuals and the business community and appreciates the support for her ventures.
“When we’re out at races, I represent our country and my state, community and school; all responsibilities I take very seriously. Equally important, by achieving the goal of going to the 2014 Games, being successful there, and now shooting for the 2018 Paralympic Games I hope to bring greater awareness of the talents and potential of people with disabilities and of the Paralympics.
